I've finished the nuts and bolts of bringing interactive (somewhat) Google maps to Motoescapism (Motogooglescapemaps). Using various plugins and tools from several magnificent developers, I've created an area that allows me to publish customized maps with place markers and routing. You can find the Map Room
under the Galleries menu item above. The first map is now live in there; it is a preview map of the route I'm going to take on my western US sport touring ride
in the upcoming weeks. The idea being that for each of my journals, I'll now be able to supplement it with a map that will include the more interesting places I went with placemarkers all laid out. The only thing I'm still struggling with is how an opened placemarker is getting formatted. That's all CSS junk and wizardry that in the intervening months since I last really did this sort of work, has atrophied considerably. I'll fix it when I get back... from Montana!!!!!!
