About two or three minutes after this picture was taken, the sun dropped behind the western ridgeline and it was as though someone had flipped a switch. Twilight remained for another 30 minutes but already the crescent moon began to take over the lighting duties for the evening. Venus absolutely blazed like a diamond just below the moon for at least 3 hours.
